Hi this is Ryan with Screen Rant’s featured news of the day.

Those who went to see Batman VS Superman in theaters were treated to their first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Now director James Wan is already starting to tease what we can expect from the character’s standalone film slated for 2018.

While some critics panned Batman VS Superman for being too dark and self-serious, Wan says he wants to make sure the Aquaman project is fun, and While speaking to the press at the 2016 Wonder Con, he mentioned:

“I think Aquaman is a character who has… y’know, been made fun of a lot over the years, and I think it’s kind of fun to show a really different, cool, badass side to this character – but at the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it.”

He also teased the opportunities that the unique setting of the film can offer can offer-- saying:

Isn’t it crazy to think that we’ve explored space more than we have explored the depths of our ocean? That just fires up my imagination about potential sea monsters and cool creatures ”

With Dawn of Justice writer Chris Terrio having studied deep sea biology in the Mariana trench to begin building the world of Aquaman, it’s safe to say that we should be seeing some sea creatures with a pretty terrifying aesthetic.
